Supporting the masjid is one of the most rewarding forms of charity. Your donations help maintain the House of Allah, support essential community services, fund Islamic education, and strengthen dawah efforts for current and future generations.
The masjid is the heart of the Muslim community. Through your contributions, you are helping to:
Maintain daily prayers and Jumuʿah
Support Islamic education for children and adults
Fund community programmes, events, and dawah initiatives
Assist vulnerable individuals and families
Preserve and strengthen Sunni Islamic practice for future generations
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 450; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 533)
This reward applies not only to physically building a masjid, but also to maintaining, supporting, and sustaining it through charity.
Allah Most High says in the Qur’an:
“The mosques of Allah are only maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give zakah, and fear none but Allah.”
(Surah at-Tawbah 9:18)
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Charity does not decrease wealth.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2588)
And he ﷺ also said:
“Shade yourselves from the Fire, even if it is with half a date.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 1417; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1016)
Every donation, large or small, carries immense reward when given sincerely for the sake of Allah.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like the one who does it.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1893)
By supporting dawah, educational programmes, and community outreach through the masjid, you share in the reward of every prayer, lesson, and act of guidance that results from it.
Sadaqah: General voluntary charity for the running and activities of the masjid
Lillah: Donations given purely for the sake of Allah, to be used where most needed
Dawah & Community Projects: Supporting talks, events, education, and outreach initiatives
Masjid Maintenance: Helping cover utilities, upkeep, and operational costs
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1631)
Supporting your local masjid is a form of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah)—a reward that continues long after we have returned to Allah.
May Allah accept your donations, place barakah in your wealth, and make it a means of success in this world and the Hereafter. Ameen.
